'RISE ABOVE THE LIES' is my first book and it's one that details the leadership journey of starting, pastoring and leading Awaken Church. It was just 8 years ago that Ashley and I packed a UHaul and moved our family to pursue a dream that God placed in our hearts. We knew God called us to start a church in Charleston, SC but we never imagined all the ups and downs these years have brought. What started with 9 people has grown into an incredible church as thousands have been reached and impacted in our city, state and world! The leadership principles that I've learned along the way have strengthened me, shaped me and in some ways, even scarred me. But what I know is this: God works ALL things together for our good and I'm convinced that He wants to use these lessons to benefit people all around the world!

Leadership is exciting and influence is incredible. Seeing a dream and a vision come to life is one of the most exhilarating things you can experience! But what happens when lies begin to limit your leadership? What do you do when you feel stuck and struggle to see your way forward? How do you overcome the lies that you wrestle with to achieve the dream you feel called to?
This book is about that. It speaks to the darker side of leadership and discusses in detail how these lies almost destroyed me and could have derailed our church. It gives a window into the difficult side of being a leader while imparting spiritual truths needed to rise above the lies we face. So many of you have been such an integral part of this journey with us and this fundraiser is our way of asking to help make this book a reality!

The manuscript for RISE ABOVE THE LIES was embraced by The Fedd Agency out of Austin, TX. They are an "agency-managed/self-publishing company" which means the author pays the costs of editing, formatting, designing and marketing the book. They provide a literary agent and all the necessary services but like anything else, it comes with a cost:
- Manuscript editing, cover design, marketing services: $12,000
- eBook formatting/uploading for NOOK, iPad, Kindle applications - $4,000
- Audio Book studio recording, mastering, mixing and uploading - $2250
Total Cost: $18,250
