!!!! Update!!!! Thank you to everyone who has donated to this campaign! We have sufficient funds to carry out the dolphin survey in March. „The Gulf of Tribugá may be the most biodiverse region on this planet“ said Silvia Earl (also know as „Her Deepness“) who designated the region as a global „hope spot“ in 2019*.
For humpback whales, sea turtles and hammerhead sharks the Gulf of Tribugá has been shown to represent an important reproductive area.
Numerous dolphins, including many claves, can also be observed in the area.
However, virtually nothing is known about them apart from that these dolphins are threatened by increasing human pressure (e.g. vessel noise, unregulated whale watching, accidental by-catch in long line fishing and plastic pollution).
So we need to act now to protect the dolphins of the Gulf of Tribugá!
You can help by sponsoring this dolphin survey of R&E, which takes place at the end of March 2021. To map dolphin occurrence in the whole Gulf we need to cover a distance of ca. 320km. Every kilometer costs 2,50€, which includes
1. fuel
2. boat rental
3. a small but fair salary for the three local fishermen on board
4. and a beach clean up with locals and tourists in the area to reduce the amount of plastic that enters the ocean and harms the dolphins
You could sponsor for example
1) 1km = 2.50 €
2) 4km =10 €
3) 6km =15 €
4) 10km = 25 €
5) whichever distance you prefer
What will you receive in return?
Every sponsor will receive a map, highlighting the kilometers they have sponsored and updates from the field. If we spot and photograph any dolphins on the distance that you sponsored, you will get a notification and have the chance to name that dolphin!

Every kilometer literally gets us one step further towards a dolphin conservation program and makes one of my biggest dreams come true!
