I am hoping you will join us in the raising awareness and funds to an extreme cause weighing in the black and brown communities.
No Struggle No Success Inc. name was adopted by a 15-year old male, who was charged as adult in Frederick Maryland. This youth was sent away for 10 years without any prior assistance of family unification to redirect his steps. His story and many other youthful offenders in Maryland have experienced trauma and exposed to violence are often looked at as troubled or misguided youth. The behaviors these youth demonstrate are a cry out for help not to be sent to prison. Most parents are low income, do not have a work life balance, not able to access healthy food, and have limited or not informed of available educational and community resources. However, there is a sure thing of mistrust between urban communities and legal, criminal system and law enforcement. You CAN NOT EXPECT to reduce crime without realigning racial equity, authenticate resources and education for our younger generation. Throwing a 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17 year old child away into the adult system, leaves bitterness, uncertainty of life, further abandonment, divided household, easily access to drugs, gangs, and learn new ways of being bullied by older unrehabilitated adults and overwhelmed prison system only to repeat the cycle of violence and death. NO ONE wins under these circumstances.
NSNS acknowledges that reentry services is a vital matter of Public Safety and Health. These funds will further implement, enhance and support strategies to successful transition youth into intensive community based resources and rebuild a support system for the entire family. Through mentorship and population health services, NSNS is able to open the path of permanent connections and social and emotional wellbeing of the youth.
