Sonia Davis Childbirth Education Scholarship Fund

Many know that Prepared Pregnancy offers affordable online prenatal education classes to women and families but few know why.

In 2018, our CEO/Co-founder Pamela Boatner, CNM was pregnant with a high risk bed rest pregnancy. The pregnancy complications forced her to resign from her position leaving her with minimal income. Even with a masters education in women’s health and midwifery, she desired for her whole family and birth team to attend childbirth classes for support.  The conditions of her pregnancy had left her afraid and unprepared.

Her mother, Sonia Davis, however saw the value of quality prenatal education and offered to donate funds for online education to accommodate her bed rest. Unfortunately, all online prenatal classes were expensive. This left Pamela feeling helpless and her mother feeling defeated. In one last attempt to empower Pamela during her birth, she urgently flew from New Jersey to Atlanta in enough time to educate, to support Pamela, and to catch her grandson.  This inspired Pamela so much that she and her Co-Founder Wakerah Minder started Prepared Pregnancy with goals to offer prenatal classes to all women regardless of location and income.

With April 24, 2021 being Sonia Davis’ birthday, commemorating a 2 year transition for her into heavenly places, Prepared Pregnancy seeks to honor her support and sacrifice for our founder Pamela.  

Today, we launch our Sonia Davis Childbirth Education Scholarship Fund. This fund will be used to exclusively help women and families that seek online prenatal education with a special need of financial assistance, special circumstances, and/or mobility issues (ex: high risk bedrest pregnancy). We strive to assist 2 families monthly with a scholarship for a prenatal class of their choosing, giving opportunity for ALL WOMEN to get the education and support they need. A goal of $1200 would allow us to provide at least 2 scholarship classes a month for a year.
