My name is Tiffany Commons and have the privilege of being one of Sandy Stephens' (Luke's mom) best friends. Luke and my son Jake have grown up together and have went to school together since they were in pre-k. I wanted to start this fundraising page to help alleviate the stress Sandy and Luke may feel with the potential of high medical bills.
Here's the story:
February 3 around 11 PM, Luke was walking on a road near his house that leads to a cul-de-sac and was struck by a car which fled the scene. Sandy, Luke's mom, said that a neighbor, T-Bone Blevins, got in his truck and chased the driver down and called police. This led to the arrest of the driver who is being held without bond. Luke is in critical but stable condition in Erlanger Trauma ICU. He has a skull fracture, small brain bleed, 11 fractured ribs, multiple fractures in his back and possible left arm fracture, lacerations to his bronchial tube, collapsed lung, chest tube and is intubated. They are at Erlanger and are most grateful to the nurses and doctors taking care of him. They are keeping him pretty sedated. Luke knows who his mom is and will follow commands when asked.
Luke turned 18 on February 5 and had major back surgery the morning of his bday. He is a wonderful, strong, loving young man and is a fighter but this is going to be a challenging road ahead for this senior from Catoosa County.
Sandy, Luke's awesome mom, has not left his side and will need some help with his medical bills. She's able to take time off from work but will not be paid and will apply donations towards medical bills/expenses.
Any and all donations are needed and most appreciated! Sandy will use this money wisely to pay bills.
