Help Support the Robinson Family

Donation protected
This fundraiser is to support the Robinson family while their son, Abe, is undergoing treatment for Leukemia. All funds are sent directly to Kristin and Jake for bills, medical expenses, gas, food, and to compensate for lost wages while they are staying at the hospital during treatments.

Their story is below, in Kristin's words as it is unfolding. We will post updates as they become available.

"Before Christmas break, Abe fell and strained muscles in his back. He seemed to take a bit longer than anticipated to feel better and then had a virus over the holidays. As school resumed, he became more and more pale, began experiencing frequent nosebleeds, weight loss, and lethargy.

On Monday, January 23, after alarming blood test results from an ER trip in Frankfort, we were told to go straight to DeVos Children’s Hospital where a bed was waiting. Abe and I arrived in Grand Rapids at 9pm Monday night where no time was spared poking, prodding, testing, and more testing through the night and into Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning after a bone marrow biopsy from his hip, Abe was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This diagnosis is the most hoped-for scenario. B Cell ALL is the most common childhood Leukemia. But, for perspective, only about 35 cases are seen at DeVos per year. Abe and I are staying at the hospital until the end of the month. Abe's bone marrow is 80% leukemia cells currently and the goal is to get it to under .01% by the end of the month.

Right now Abe’s 12-year-old body hurts everywhere. The leukemia cells take over and fill the space inside his bones, increasing pressure. The most serious issue for Abe is the risk of any bacterial infection that most often comes from within one’s own body, rather than exposure to common colds etc. Every time he has a fever, we must bring him back to Grand Rapids. Don’t pass go, don’t think, just get there. He’s had a fever every day since we arrived.

A port was implanted in Abe’s chest by which he’ll receive chemo treatments for the next 2 years. A third year of maintenance treatments will follow. The Robinsons are grateful for your support that will allow them to completely focus on helping Abe fight this. We're shocked, terrified, and determined to do the best we can to keep Abe comfortable and strong as he fights for his life. The outpouring of love from you is felt. Even if we can’t always respond to the texts and calls, please keep them coming. Please keep Ryder and Fritz in your thoughts as well. We need you more than ever.

Life is suspended for us- the sheer time and distance for treatment will limit our ability to work until there is a greater duration between treatments. We are ok for the present on meals and childcare."

The Robinsons have done so much for our Northern Michigan music community over their years of organizing the Hoxeyville Music Festival. Now is the time for our community to lift them up and offer a helping hand to get through this difficult diagnosis and treatment for Abe. Your support is appreciated!
