Niland Fire

There was a brush fire in Niland last night destroying 40 homes. We are working with the Niland Chamber of Commerce and coordinating the food, clothing, bedding, etc., drive at our place, Grhastha Matha in Bombay Beach (the northern most section of Niland.) For those who can get here please bring whatever items you feel you would need/want if your home burned down. Please do not purchase items unless/until we have an actual list of things needed. We don't want to overwhelm people who are already going through a tremendous ordeal. Anyone with a trailer or rv to donate please let us know.  All items can be dropped off in person or shipped to 9590 Avenue G, Niland CA 92257 (the place with the bookmobile) and we will sort and distribute. Volunteers will be needed in coming days to assist.  All funds collected will go directly to the needs of the community and we will keep a list of expenses for transparency. If you have a home here that can be used as temporary shelter, please let us know as soon as possible.
