We the workers of this store are formally on strike from Tuesday July, 12th till Thursday July, 14th. Our decision to strike is due to Starbucks' continued Unfair Labor Practices (ULPs) taken against us:
- Hour cuts
- Stalling negotiations with our Union
- Unpredictable scheduling
- Anti-union propaganda
- Increasing benefits for non-union/non-organizing stores
- Failure to provide a safe work environment
Starbucks claims to be a progressive company leading the industry, while at the same time failing to pay workers a living wage or providing necessary benefits such as affordable healthcare. The actions taken against workers at this location directly impact our physical/mental health, financial stability, and overall well-being.
Nationally, Starbucks continues an assault on workers that has routinely been found to be illegal. The workers of our store seek to hold Howard Shultz and Starbucks accountable by bringing a stop to the exploitation of its 'partners' and demanding Starbucks acknowledge the union and begin fair negotiations with SBWU.
We are the workers, and we make the profits here. They may call us "partners", but there is no partnership without good-faith bargaining.
And so, we look forward to Starbucks' response to our long-standing request to bargain in good-faith.
Sincerely,
Partners of Del-Chip Starbucks
