Eagle Scout Project: Gaga Ball Pit Construction

Hi,

I am Tyler Harrison from Boy Scout Troop 270 in Newtown CT. I am starting my Eagle Scout project and I need to fundraise for the materials. I will be building a Gaga Ball pit at Cullen's Youth Memorial. The money that is fundraised will go towards the cost of materials (2x12x16 Lumber, Exterior Screws, Gravel Base, Signage) and any money that is extra will be donated to Cullen's Youth Memorial.

Many town youth groups and BSA Troops and Girl Scout Troops use the Youth Memorial for activities every season. There is a pond to fish and canoe on, a pavilion for cooking at eating at, Lean-To's for overnight camping, and a large field for frisbee or other activities. This Gaga Ball Pit will be constructed between the Pavilion and the Lean-To's providing a place for youth to gather and play. It will add to the list of fun activities that youth can participate in when at the Cullen's Youth Memorial.

I will be supervising the work being done, and this includes clearing and leveling the site, digging the holes for the posts, cutting the timbers, construction of the octagon, and preparing the base.

I am currently a Life Scout, and have participated in the National Boy Scout Jamboree in 2017, a 70 mile canoe trip down the Connecticut River in 2018, a 55mile backpacking trip at the Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico, and numerous summer camps for scouting in New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
