Avant-garde Books, LLC is an established mother/daughter-owned business. Our company was founded by an educator with over 30 years of dedicated service in the classroom. That's why Avant-garde Books is not merely focused on selling books, but we are committed to "saving" lives through literacy education, especially children who reside in socio-economically disadvantaged communities. We have also organized literary events throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area. In December of 2018, we started hosting monthly Community Book Fairs at West End Mall (Atlanta, Georgia). Today, our "book hub" is there every Wednesday through Saturday.*
Since we started, a single day hasn't passed when at least one customer hasn't the question: "Where is your bookstore?" That's why we are looking forward to a place that would allow us to empower community members by offering story time for children; tutorials and enrichment classes; as well as educational workshops. It would also provide an inviting space for community members to work collaboratively to discuss and solve problems. Additionally, the bookstore would increase accessibility of books by gifted, independent authors and publishers who often get overlooked by mainstream literary organizations.
Based on research, adding a café to the bookstore will increase sustainability and long-term fiscal success.
We would greatly appreciate you helping us prepare a space for literacy and learning that everyone can enjoy. Your donations will mainly help fund the renovations. The cost of this work really isn't big if enough people make a small contribution. We thank you in advance for whatever you give. We look forward to inviting you to our grand opening.
*It is anticipated that The Mall West End will be closing within the next two years. We will continue there until its doors shut. We plan to make our future home in NW Atlanta.
